1. Name
The Name of the group shall be Temple Freestyle Karate and Self Defence and shall be referred to in short as ‘Temple FSK’ throughout this document.

5. OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE
The business of the club will be carried out by a committee elected by the Senior Instructor.
The committee will consist of 5 members. Up to 2 additional members may be co-opted onto the committee at the discretion of the committee.
The members’ roles are as follows:
In the event of a committee member standing down during the year a replacement will be elected by the next general meeting of members.
Any Committee member who is unable to attend, must provide an apology for non-attendance prior to allocated meeting date/time. Any committee member who fails to attend 3 consecutive meetings without apology will be contacted by the Chair and asked if they wish to resign.
The committee meetings will be open to any member of Temple FSK wishing to attend, who may speak but not vote.
6. MEETINGS
6.1 Annual Gerneal Meetings (AGMs)
An annual general meeting (AGM) will be held within 15 months of the previous AGM.
All members will be notified at least 3 weeks in advance before the date of the meeting, giving venue, date and time.
Nominations for the committee may be made to the secretary before the meeting or at the meeting.
The quorum for the AGM will be 10% of the membership or 5 members – whichever number is greater.
At the AGM:
6.2 General Meetings
General meetings will be held at least once every 3 months for committee members to attend.
Members will be contacted atleast 2 weeks of a proposed date to confirm attendance of all members. A meeting will only be confirmed once all five committee members are able to attend. Once confirmation from each member is confirmed, each will be notified of date, time and location of meeting.
In the case of financial expenditure of other issues that effect the club and its members, and failing consensus, quorum shall be 75% of committee members.
7. FINANCES
An account will be maintained on behalf of the association at a bank agreed by the committee. 2 cheque signatories will be nominated by the committee (one to be the treasurer). Any two of these must sign every cheque. In the interests of transparency, signatories will not be family members or of the same household.
All purchases (whether online, instore, lease fees etc) will be documented by form of receipts or invoices. These will be given to the treasurer for record keeping in order to provide a financial statement at each meeting.
All money raised by or on behalf of TEMPLE FSK will be used to maintain the clubs status (insurances, premises costs etc) and the further development of the club and its members as per sect 2 of this constitution.
8. AMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION
Amendments to the constitution may only be made at the AGM or a special general meeting.
Any proposal to amend the constitution must be made in writing to the secretary atleast 2 weeks prior to the meeting.
Any proposal to amend the constitution will require a 75% majority of those present and entitled to vote.
9. DISSOLUTION
If a meeting, by simple majority, decides that it is necessary to close down the club it may call a Special General Meeting to do so. The sole business of that meeting will be to dissolve the group.
If it is agreed to dissolve the club, all remaining money and other assets, once any outstanding debts have been paid, will be donated to a charitable organization of similar standing (Martial Arts). The organization chosen is to be agreed at the meeting which agrees the dissolution.

- The aims of Temple FSKshall be:
- To bring together and foster understanding from individuals within our diverse community in Ipswich and the surrounding area.
- To promote the learning of the Martial Arts through quality instruction in a safe environment for its members.
- To establish an environment of mutual respect and appreciation.
- To ensure all activities are undertaken in a safe manner (as far as is reasonably practicable in relation to ‘contact’ sports) through continual supervision, explanation, demonstration and practice the importance of control and ability.
- To promote self-aspiration by providing a ratified syllabus that members will train to in order to progress through the syllabus.
- Instructor(s) and Assistant Instructor(s) will actively attend training seminars in order to maintain coaching skills, First Aid training etc through the Governing Body to which we are affiliated (IMASA – the Independent Martial Arts & Sports Association).
- To have in place relevant Insurances for students, Instructor(s) and Assistant Instructor(s) – proof of which will be available within club documents held. (Documents can be made available for viewing on request, within a reasonable time of said request being placed).
- Temple FSK will endeavor to ensure that all costs to members (Licence, insurance and training fees) are kept as low as is practically possible. Temple FSK aims to remain highly affordable and source equipment that is fit for purpose while remaining affordable. (Our affiliation does not stipulate particular brands, thus negating the need to limit options for equipment sourcing). Temple FSK will however provide recommendations to all members and minimum requirements of equipment required to participate in training sessions and competitions.
3. MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to anyone who:
- Is medically fit and of general good health
- Above the age of 8 (unless previous experience can be proved and/or demonstrated). This is due to some techniques and manipulations that are applied in the course of the syllabus that are not suited to young persons for medical reasons.
- Members must purchase a Licence and insurance. These will be provided by the club on confirmation of membership being requested. Students cannot train if they do not apply for Licence and insurance (Licence and insurance are sourced via IMASA with whom Temple FSK are affiliated) after initial ‘taster session’.

- Secretary, who shall be responsible for the taking of minutes and the distribution of all papers.
- Membership secretary, who shall be responsible for keeping records of members including licence/insurance expiry dates and licence book details.
- Treasurer, who shall be responsible for maintaining accounts. Additional details will include providing up to date costs in relation to courses, licences, insurances and other relevant items/equipment (from sources used).
